body and appearance ⒈ Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? 6’2”, weighing in at 176lbs. Xanxus has a strong build without being overly bulky, his arms and legs are definitely not bishonen-skinny, but the only prominent muscle definition is on his chest. Really his body type is relatively average, if on the taller side. ⒉ How old is he? Xanxus is technically 24 years old. However due to being frozen for eight years, he (seemingly) still had the mentality of a 16 year old. Some people argue that he is even physically still 16. Also he throws tantrums like a (drunken) five year old so there is also that. ⒊ Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? If Xanxus isn’t fighting, he’s probably sitting in a fancy chair like the BOSS he is. His sitting posture has that sort of lazy imperious slump to it. As if he’d sit in the chair properly like some peasant.When he isn’t sitting Xanxus has a pretty normal posture. He certainly doesn’t slouch because that would imply he isn’t utterly confident in his ability to kicj the ass of whoever he’s facing.   ⒋ How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? WELL IF HE DRINKS AS MUCH AS EVERYONE ASSUMES HE DOES HIS HEALTH IS PROBABLY PRETTY SHIT! Also he seems to subside mostly on steak that isn’t really good for you either. And apparently excessive (anger-induced) stress can cause high blood pressure. So no, Xanxus’s insides are not really doing all that well in theory. HIS OUTSIDES ARE PRETTY GOOD THOUGH!? He seems to be in pretty good physical condition, boy works out I guess. Caitie’s favorite canon point for him is after he loses his arm so that’d be a physical disability I suppose??? ⒌ How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? THIS IS HARD TO DEDUCE FROM MANGA PANELS WOW I… Man he barely moves when he’s not fighting and half the time when he’s doing that he’s shooting around in the air because fuck gravity so man I’m not sure. I suppose I could say that he moves with purpose? He doesn’t make any superfluous movements, if he doesn’t need to move, he won’t. If he doesn’t need to rise out of his chair to beat someones ass into the ground, then he’s going to sit in his fucking chair and barely lift a finger in order to take them out. He’s a lazy fuck tbh. ⒍ How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Well it’s a shonen manga so all the important characters are pretty by default. Also I’m incredibly biased on this subject. BUT I MEAN LIKE, he’s definitely not a pretty-boy but he’s got sharp features and dresses well (in a manga with notoriously bad fashion even) so he definitely could be seen as being handsome. I mean if you ask me I think he’s gorgeous but it’s literally the only positive thing he has going for him other than being assbananas strong. So it balances out. He probably thinks he’s pretty hot shit, you wouldn’t wear colorful roadkill on your head if you weren’t confindent enough in your appearance. Since it’d attract a lot of attention. ⒎ Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Xanxus mas a relatively olive skintone, fitting for his Italian heritage. It’s maybe slightly more tan than average. BUT REALLY THE MOST IMPORANT PART OF THIS SECTION ARE HIS SCARS! He has a fuckton of them. They’re patchy, jagged-edged scars, all over his body. Since they’re burn scars rather than cuts they aren’t just thin lines, so they’re pretty prominent features. They also get 100% worse when he gets particularly enraged because that’s how scars work what are you talking about. ⒏ Describe his hair: color, texture, style. His hair is black and straight and has a douchebaggy hipster style. NO OK real talk, his hair is shortish and mostly slicked back, but not slicked down, it’s got that traditional spikey anime fluffiness to it. Then there’s the sideburns which are meticulously shaped (tapered with a small indent in the top by his hairline) and buzzed short (see I told you, douchebag) . ⒐ What color are his eyes? Red of course. It compliments his usual expression of unamused glare very well. ⒑ Does the character have any other noteworthy features? His fucking eyebrows. They’re not particularly thick, but they’re incredibly forked, making it almost look like he has two sets of them. It also gives him eyebrows that look angry all the goddamn time.   I mean he’s angry 85% of the time anyway but his eyebrows aren’t helping. ⒒ What are his chief tension centers? IDK GIVEN HIS FREQUENT BOUTS OF UNBRIDLED RAGE HE’S PROBABLY PRETTY TENSE IN GENERAL AT THOSE TIMES??? When he’s lounging he seems pretty loose otherwise so I don’t really know. ⒓ What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Well in the context of the manga he’s always in his Varia uniform, which consists of a white dress shirt, and black pants, boots, jacket, belt, and tie. All of which save for the tie and obviously the shirt seem to be leather? His belt buckle is a silver metal with some sort of X shaped emblem on it, and sometimes the boots are lace-ups. Xanxus doesn’t wear his uniform properly because he’s a REBEL!!! The top two buttons or so of his shirt are undone and consequently his tie is tied pretty loosely, and his collar is usually pretty messy too. He also doesn’t wear his jacket normally, it’s always resting on his shoulders. The jacket has a high stiff collar and falls to about mid-calf, and has the varia emblem on the upper part of the left sleeve, and two braided ropes on the opposite shoulder. Also the cuffs on his shirt are unbutton because again, rebel. Extrapolating from this and using official promo art as my backing, Xanxus does generally dress well, collared shirts and ties and all that. His wardrome is pretty monochromatic, with probably the most prominent actual color being red. Other than actual clothes he’s pretty infamous for his accessorizing, and by that I mean his fucking feather bullshit. They seem to be fastened to his hair around the base of his neck, I have no idea how. They also chance in every arc, thankfully he at least ditched the raccon tail from Varia arc in the last arc, and all the feathers migrated to one giant fluffy mass on one side of his head. They’re mostly red and very flashy.   ⒔ Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? They would fit him better if he wore them properly, I’d assume. Since he wears them how he wants he’s probably pretty comfortable with them that way. ⒕ Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? He’s always in his uniform, being a mafia assassin is sort of a full time job I guess. ⒖ You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? I have never considered this for him and don’t really want to start now so you get to choose I guess. speech ⒈What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? It’s fairly deep but not overly so. It’s got a sneery tone to it, it’s clearly the voice of someone who’d punch your face in for next to no reason. ⒉ How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? God I only vaguely remember from what anime episodes I watched. BUT UH, as I’ve said Xanxus is a lazy fuck and it’s definitely reflected in the way he talks. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a drawl but he’s not a particularly fast talker. Also he yells a lot because he gets angry a lot so there’s that. Xanxus is not a hesistant speaker, he says what he needs to say, even if it’s a lie, he doesn’t falter. ⒊ Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? Presumably if everything wasn’t in Japanese he’d have an Italian accent seeing as he’s from Italy. The only thing I could really call a verbal tic is his habit of calling things and people trash. (The original word is kazu and I’ve seen it translated as both trash and scum, but I tend to favor trash more myself.) ⒋ What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? Italian and Japanese for sure, since it’s a requirement for Varia membership to speak at least seven languages he presumably knows five more. He seems pretty fluent in both the known ones, can’t say for the other five. ⒌ Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? The names of his attacks (since Calling Your Attacks is a requirement of shonen manga) are in Italian but other than that not really. ⒍ Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? Not particularly? He honestly doesn’t talk all that much outside what he’s required to say. He’s not all that good at words but as was already discussed he’s not a hesitant speaker. Like most of his actions his words are often largely dictated by his emotions. ⒎ Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Xanxus has no problem expressing himself when he needs to, he can be eloquent (moreso in Varia arc) but often what he’s saying is so brief it’s not really relevant. Also he swears a lot, most of the time. mental and emotional ⒈ How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Xanxus is perhaps not smart as much as he is clever. Which I suppose would be equivalent to street-smart? As Timoteo’s son he probably had decent tutors but since he’s Xanxus he probably skipped out on them a lot so he’s not any more book-smart than the average person. ⒉ Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?   He thinks on his feet far more than he should. Xanxus is a very rash, impulsive person, HE DOES WHAT HE FUCKING WANTS. Stopping and considering the possible consequences of your actions is for losers.   ⒊ Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Xanxus is a very stubborn person, if he decides he wants something, he’ll be focused on that until he gets it. He’s not inherently logical or intuitive, he’ll go with whatever he thinks will get him closer to his goal. He definitely leans more towards practical, however. He hates Tsuna, but will still work with him and his idiots if it’s necessary. He’ll be difficult about it but he’ll do it. ⒋ What kind of education has the character had? Again, he was probably haphazardly homeschooled. ⒌ What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Xanxus is really good at fighting and coming up with horrific devious plans to fuck people over. He’s proably pretty knowledgably in hard liquors since that’s apparently what he drinks. ⒍ Is he an introvert or an extravert? Mostly an introvert. Xanxus claims to have a burning hatred for pretty much everyone, so he likes to keep to himself. That said, DEEP DEEP DOWN, he does actually want approval/respect from people but he’s so bad at being a functional human being that it’s not really something he addresses. ⒎ Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Xanxus has an incredibly violent temper. In both senses of the word violent. Other than rage his other two basic moods are disgruntled and amusement. His emotional rage is pretty low, he’s rarely in a mood other than those three. ⒏ Is he more likely to act, or to react? Xanxus is a sleeping lion, if you poke him (knowingly or not) he’ll bite back but otherwise he usually can’t be bothered to do anything. ⒑ Which is his default: fight or flight? FIGHT, LITERALLY. ⒒ Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Xanxus has a terrible sense of humor. He laughs at other people suffering and SUFFERING UNDER THE DELUSION THAT THEY STAND A CHANCE AGAINST HIM!!! He’s an arrogant douchebag really. ⒓ Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? The Varia is fucking full of crazy people but Xanxus really just has a lot of unresolved anger/daddy issues. ⒔ What moments in this character's life have defined his as a person? Being adopted by Timoteo, finding out that he’s not Timoteo’s biological son, the cradle affair, and his loss to Tsuna are probably the biggest ones. ⒕ What does he fear? XANXUS IS FEARLESS!!! No ok he’s pretty good at acting as such but given how desparate he gets towards the end of his fight with Tsuna, losing is a pretty safe bet. ⒖ What are his hopes or aspirations? FUCKING NOTHING NOW, HIS DREAMS WERE CRUSHED!! Xanxus wanted to be the tenth boss of Vongola but he is physically incapable of wielding the symbol of power of the Vongola boss so he’s SOL. ⒗ What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Other than not being Timoteo’s legitimate heir, probably aforementioned reasoning for wanted to be boss; wanting acknowledgemtn/respect from the family as a whole. He acts like he doesn’t care what people think of him; that would ruin his image. relationships ⒈ Describe this character's relationship with his parents. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Awful. Xanxus’s mother gave him up to a stranger (Timoteo) when he was young, and allegedly was mentally unwell. Timoteo was likely a kind and loving father but wasn’t able to give him the discipline he needed and also lied to him about being his real father. Xanxus didn’t take that well, tried to usurp him, and Timoteo was forced to freeze him. So, daddy issues. They mostly stem from Xanxus being convinced that Timoteo only took him in because his powerful flame would be useful to the Vongola. He rejects the premise that Timoteo loved him and did consider him to be like a son to him, because wow fuck you??? He has tried to murder him twice so far, and Timoteo hasn’t tried to freeze him again so really if he’s managed to forgive him then he probably really does care about Xanxus. ⒉ Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? Timoteo has three older sons (making them Xanxus’s adoptive brothers), but they are all dead. It is implied that Xanxus may have had a hand in some of their deaths, so Xanxus probably didn’t like them all that much. ⒊ Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? HIS ONLY KNOWN BLOOD RELATIVE IS HIS CRAZY MOTHER! ⒋ Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Well, the Vongola is his family, technically. You wouldn’t think family loyalty would mean much to someone like Xanxus, especially after what happened. But if there’s an enemy that threatens to destroy the family as a whole, he won’t stand for it. This is more so for when he’s older, but my guess is that in the last arc he’s shifting more towards this “The Vongola stand as one” mentality. ⒌ Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Xanxus doesn’t have friends but if he did it would be Squalo. Squalo was immediately taken with Xanxus’s innate aura of power and anger and swore undying loyalty to him ever since. Squalo is one of few people who will talk back to Xanxus, even if it means getting hit. If anyone understands Xanxus, it’s Squalo. By the end of the manga, where Xanxus has matured as a person a bit, he actually seems to have developed some level of attachment to Squalo, as he becomes enraged when Squalo suffers a mortal injury from Jaeger’s attack. His other best friend is Bester, headcanon dictates that Bester is the only other living being whose presences Xanxus will actively tolerate. Good Lion Best Friend. Xanxus allegedly was the one who insisted on the Varia rings being made, after all. He wanted that lion, damnit. ⒍ Does he have other close friends? No he hates everyone. ⒎ Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? HE HATES EVERYONE, HE IS NIGH IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ALONG WITH! ⒏ Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Family (in the sense of the Vongola family.) ⒐ Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Religion is all about submitting to a higher power so no, fuck that. Xanxus only relies on himself huff huff. ⒊ Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Having a personal code implies his action are dictated by something other than his whims and impulses so nope. Xanxus does what Xanxus wants. ⒋ How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? He’ll either think they’re hilariously wrong or just stupid. Either way he’s a douche about it. ⒌ What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Xanxus doesn’t like to rely on anyone else because that just gives people chances to fuck you over! He won’t get close to people for essentially the same reason. This is basically all Timoteo’s fault but also admittedly Xanxus overreacting. daily life ⒈ What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? He’s the de facto heir of a mafia boss, with a family as powerful as the Vongola Xanxus does fine. Even after Tsuna becomes boss, as the leader of the Varia he’s probably guaranteed to be able to continue living as he likes. ⒉ What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Xanxus is neck deep in the criminal underworld, even within the Vongola the Varia are sort of the bad guys. But given the clout the Vongola has, that still puts Xanxus above a lot of people. Before he was adopted Xanxus lived in poverty, afterwards he became an awful spoiled brat, good job Timoteo. ⒊ Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? The Varia are stationed in a big fancy mansion, Xanxus lives there, and since he’s a lazy asshole he’s probably there a lot. He presumably has his own private quarters. ⒋ Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? I’d assume the Varia’s expenses are handled by one person but for Xanxus specifically of course there’d be funds for all his booze. ⒌ What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? Xanxus murders people for a living, he’s really good at it. He probably enjoys it but moreso he just seems to enjoy fighting. His semi-rivalry with Hibari is based mainly on their mutual enjoyment of such. ⒍ What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Xanxus spends his free time getting drunk, abusing his subordinates, and sleeping. ⒎ What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Xanxus is an incredibly picky eater, and he seems to favor steak. He has no table manners, either, and interrupting his meals is a bad idea because he will fucking murder you. It’s generally agreed upon that he drinks heavily because he is a hot mess of a human being, Xanxus please. Drinking won’t solve your problems. associations Ⅰ Color?
